There are many different types of transportation that vary depending on numerous factors, including speed and cost. Which type of transportation one chooses depends on an individual's time constraints, financial situation, and the distance to be covered. While the question states that I need to travel 40 miles, it does not say how long I have to travel, so I will outline the various choices.

The most economical choice is walking. It costs nothing and is healthful, but it is time-consuming. The average person can walk about four to five miles per hour, so this trip would take at least ten hours to complete, which would probably necessitate sleeping somewhere along the way. After walking comes animal transportation. In my country, horses are not common, but are available for travel in the countryside. I believe that a 40-mile trip would take 2 or 3 hours on a horse. If one has access to a horse, the cost is minimal. Of course, you have to know how to ride!

If one is lucky enough to own a car, then the time is minimal (under one hour), with only the cost of gasoline to consider. However, many people don't own cars, so they must depend on mass or public transportation. Shared taxis are one form of affordable transportation, with four or five people sharing the cost of a car-trip to a common destination. The only downside is finding people to share the fare with. In urban areas, there are buses, subways, and trains to consider, if these forms of transportation service your destination.

walkingIn short, the kind of transportation depends on how fast I need to get to my destination and how much money I have. If I need to get there fast, and money isn 't important, I can hire a private taxi.

Since I don't own my own car, I don't have that option, and I have never walked 40 miles in one trip.

I usually depend on the bus and trains, and would do so in this circumstance. They are cheap, dependable, and reliable.
